Introduction
August 1, 2019 some one asked me about my phone number on facebook post. I gave him as i have different whatsapp number and i don't entertain calls on that number. On August 2, 2019 i received a whatsapp message asking me if i have some old currency notes as that guy wanted to buy them from me.
This is the number from which i received the message.
Luckily, i have Indian currency notes from 1980 to 1991. I thought he will offer me 100 bucks and i will ask for 150 that was in my mind. But he offered me $5,000/- at that moment i smelled something fishy in this offer.
He also told me that he is a Muslim guy by religion. He also asked me about the same and i told him that i am an Hindi from India. This exchange of religion names also gave me a clue that this might be a scam. I am explaining this below in description with proofs.
Description
How they prove that they are genuine ?
In order to prove that guy is genuine he sent me his picture with an id proof on it. This seems like you are getting a message from genuine person.
After watching this picture i was bit sure that this is a genuine guy. But in the starting of the chat he asked me about my religion and told me his. He was muslim but the ID proof in this picture belongs to a christian man. Here i smelled something fishy again.
They ask you for old money
Now, the next thing that they will do is asking you if you have some old money with you. Yes i have so i replied with yes and the images of currency notes.
This is INR 1, Indian currency note of 1980. I have collection of these notes from 1980 to 1991.
They will offer you a big amount
Here comes the main point of the offer. They will show you that they are genuine people. They will say that they can buy you notes of good amount. And you will have to ship the notes/money to them only after receiving the money which will be sent in your bank account.
After some time they will ask for all the notes as i have 9 notes, so he offered me $45,000 for all my 9 notes. $5,000 per note.
They will ask for your bank details
To complete the deal they will ask you about your bank details. I provided my bank details as i know this might be a scam so i provided wrong details. And, here we go they gave me a receipt on this as well.
This is the receipt they issued me.
One thing i would like to make clear here. Banks NEVER ask for any fees from the receiver. They deduct the fees from the sender.
You will be asked to transfer the money in local account
They network of these guys is so big that they will provide you the number of a local bank of your region where they will ask you to send the activation money.
He provided me the account number of Indian man situated in New Delhi. I was asked to transfer the INR 5000/- in this account to which i refused.
NEVER EVER TRANSFER MONEY TO ANYONE LIKE THIS.
I am sharing my whole chat screen shots below.
Thank you.
