Apple CEO Tim Cook's return to work has upset some of his company's employees. In March, the Cupertino giant had indicated in an email to employees that action would be taken against those who did not come to the office at least three days a week. A group of Apple employees calling themselves "Apple Together" shared a petition on Twitter claiming that the staff had shown they could do an exceptional job while staying home, Tech Insider reported. The website has been informed that there is a Slack channel promoting remote work with more than 10,000 employees. One employee said there was no confusion as to what a large percentage of the staff felt and that the iPhone maker had had this information for a few years. Last year, Cook, in a memo to employees, said the revised framework would improve employees' ability to work flexibly while preserving the "in-person" collaboration that was essential to the company's culture. In an open letter signed by more than 1,250 people on the "Apple Together" website, employees demanded flexible work based on location.

An employee who left Apple according to her LinkedIn profile said the company's return-to-work policy forced her to leave. The former employee told the website that she had a hard time traveling from southwest Austin and felt more productive at home.

According to a person familiar with the development, the company had pushed the "back to office" policy to collaborate and create "creative friction." But that person called the policy "nonsense" for most terms distributed around the world, Tech Insider's report added.

The employees said the company's explanation that it operated this way is both "silly" and "not Apple," which is the opposite of innovation. The company had sent out a survey to employees asking for their views on the hybrid work that was due to end on April 28.
