Naughty Dog has released the fourth update to its much-criticized PC port of The Last of Us Part 1, with promises to optimize the game's frame rate and fix technical issues like crashes, stutters, screen freezes, and long load times.

The game originally released for PC in March 2022, but it quickly drew criticism from gamers who reported a number of technical issues that saw the port receive a mostly negative rating on Steam. Since then, Naughty Dog has released three patches to address these issues and raise the game's Steam rating to Mixed. The new 1.0.4 update features several changes aimed at improving the optimization of the game's frame rate, graphical and texture fidelity, and crash fixes, among others. However, Naughty Dog acknowledged that there is still work to be done and vowed to monitor player feedback and release additional optimization improvements in future patches.

The patch notes detail a wide range of improvements, including CPU and GPU optimizations throughout the game, bug fixes, and more detailed descriptions of the graphics menu. While The Last of Us Part 1's PC port got off to a rocky start, Naughty Dog's commitment to fixing technical issues and improving the player experience has given fans hope for the future of the game.
