Description
WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new "one-to-many" tool to deliver information. That's according to WhatsApp news tracker WABetaInfo, which noted that the Meta-owned platform is developing such a feature for iOS and Android. The tool, according to WABetaInfo, is called "channels." Providing more details about the feature, the website describes channels as a "private tool" where phone numbers would be hidden, as well as information about users joining a channel. Also, while messages received on the channels would not be end-to-end encrypted, this would not affect the end-to-end encryption of private messaging, which is still end-to-end encrypted.
Additionally, WhatsApp plans to rename the Status tab to "Updates" as channels would also be listed in this section of the app, according to the report.
You likely have these skills and more:
(1.) Users would have control over the channels they want to subscribe to and no one would be able to see who is following a user.
(2.) People would not automatically subscribe to channels.
(3.) It would support identifiers, allowing you to search for a specific WhatsApp channel simply by entering your username.
Currently in development, the feature will be released in a future update to the instant messaging service.
