A former Meta employee who was fired in the company's second round of layoffs, announced last month, said he had been on an "emotional roller coaster" since being told he was on furlough. Chris Bowler, who joined Meta Platforms in August 2021, took to LinkedIn to share his "termination experience." “A little more than 24 hours have passed since I was informed that I was one of the many affected by the Meta layoffs. Nothing had prepared me for the emotional roller coaster I've been on since then and I imagine, like many, I will. continue for the next few days/weeks or longer," Bowler wrote on the job search platform, apparently on April 21.

Looking back on his time with the organization formerly known as Facebook, he said he was pleased to have been able to support others in his role as a manager and project leader, and to have helped shape the overall direction of the company.

Bowler also thanked the people he worked with at Meta, adding that he will actively pursue "new and exciting" opportunities in design and communications.

Since November last year, the Mark Zuckerberg-led tech giant has laid off more than 20,000 employees, in two rounds. In November 2022, more than 11,000 people, constituting 13% of Meta's total workforce at the time, received pink slips.

Then, in March of this year, it announced that it would cut another 10,000 jobs.
