A day after the launch of Apple's first retail store in India, Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday. Thanking Prime Minister Modi for the welcome, he said the tech giant was keen to expand its base and investment plans in the country. Ahead of the launch of the Saket store in Delhi, he revealed that discussions had brought to light a "shared vision" about the positive effects of technology in sectors ranging from education to the environment. He tweeted: "Thank you Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the warm welcome. We share your vision of the positive impact technology can have on the future of India - from education and developers to manufacturing and the environment, we are committed to growth and investing across the country," he tweeted. On Tuesday, Apple opened its first Indian store at Mumbai's Jio World Drive Mall in the Bandra Kurla complex.
In response to Cook's tweet, PM Modi welcomed discussing various topics with a particular focus on the technological revolutions taking place in India.
He wrote: “Absolutely nice to meet you @tim_cook! I am pleased to exchange views on various topics and highlight the ongoing technological transformations in India.
Cook had previously visited the Lodhi Art District and revealed his amazement at the creative wall art. “Delhi's Lodhi Art District is a remarkable public space. Congratulations to the St+art India Foundation and so many amazing artists for capturing Indian life in such a powerful way," the Apple chief said in a tweet.
He also went to the Indian School of Design and Innovation and found out how students used Apple products in design. "The Indian School of Design and Innovation is helping the next generation of creatives to unleash their full potential. Thank you for sharing how you create such great designs using the iPad!" he said.
