Description

It looks like a new shooter is threatening to usurp Activision's Call of Duty. The first-person shooter, XDefiant by Ubisoft, has just launched a closed beta and the players were happy with the game. At launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was a commercial success. But, recently, players showed mixed reactions about the game when Activision introduced new "pay to win" skins to its marketplace. Many fans were not happy with the way Activision was handling their microtransaction strategy. However, even with a plethora of negative sentiment, there's no denying that Call of Duty is still Kingpin FPS. Ubisoft's PvP shooter XDefiant is still in its infancy, but players who have played it have claimed that it has the potential to dethrone Call of Duty. Many players have tried the closed beta version of XDefiant and said that XDefiant actually offers the features that Call of Duty players have been asking for.

Famous Call of Duty leaker on Twitter, CharlieIntel also gave XDefiant a shot and posted a 58 second video, where he addressed the gaming community to express his thoughts on this new title.

Professional CoD player ProReborn, who got hold of the closed beta, said, "Great fun, he'll be happy to do it." He also added, "super excited to grind the eternal hell out of progression systems."

Famous Twitch face, Swiftor said: "Lots of potential, not a cod killer, but will be nice to have in the F2P FPS ecosystem."

What can XDefiant offer?

Ubisoft's Xdefiant is a 6v6 FPS and has adapted various game modes for the ultimate showdown. Offers a familiar Call of Duty multiplayer PvP experience.

In XDefiant, you can choose from five classes (faction), namely Division, Watch Dogs, Far Cry, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell. Each faction serves up different abilities like Splinter Cell focuses on stealth while The Division uses flamethrowers. Watch Dog focuses on hacking devices, and Far Cry offers support and healing. Ghost Recon uses a huge plasma shield.

Most of the XDefiant cards are taken from the video games mentioned above. There will be 14 arenas available at launch. It also features some familiar Call of Duty game modes such as TDM (Team Deathmatch), Domination, and Kill Confirmed.

The player who played XDefinat claimed that the game has much faster and smoother mechanics than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

XDefinat will feature casual mode and ranked mode. However, the informal lobby will not have skill-based matchmaking.

Players can mix and customize between 24 weapons with 44 attachments and can also use five types of explosives.

Now Ubisoft has more motivation to polish and innovate with XDefiant to be a worthy Call of Duty challenger.

The XDefiant closed beta will run until April 23 and players can sign up here.
