Description
Twitter announced "Verified Organizations" on Friday, a feature it says will allow organizations already controlled by the social media giant to verify the identifiers associated or affiliated with them. In a tweet, the Elon Musk Company said that people should not have to rely solely on Twitter to be the "sole arbiter of truth whose accounts must be verified and vetted." So what are "verified organizations"?
(1.) According to Twitter, Verified Organizations is a "new way" for companies and their affiliates to distinguish themselves on the microblogging site.
(2.) Accounts affiliated with an organization will receive an "affiliate" badge on their profile along with the parent company's logo, and will also appear on their Twitter page.
(3.) Organizations such as sports teams, media outlets, financial firms, Fortune 500 companies and NGOs have already joined the verified organizations, Twitter said, adding that they also included their affiliate identifiers in their respective profiles.
(4.) Verified Organizations is available worldwide, and companies already verified by Twitter receive email invitations to join. Interested people can sign up for the waiting list here.
(5.) Commenting on the feature, Elon Musk said that it will also help prevent identity theft, by establishing whether a person really belongs to a particular company or not.
