Description

A message is circulating on social media on behalf of public lender State Bank of India which claims to have told recipients to update their Permanent Account Number (PAN) to a suspicious link to prevent their account from expiring. "Dear customer, your SBI account will expire today, please update your PAN card number. Thank you. Click here..." the viral post read. Now, the Center's press information office has verified the entire message. "A #fake message issued in the name of @TheOfficialSBI asks recipients to update their PAN on a suspicious link to prevent their account from expiring. #PIBFactCheck. Beware of these scams. SBI never sends emails/texts asking for information personal/banking". the GDP fact-checking team tweeted. .

On Thursday, a message was circulating on social media claiming to be associated with the Labor Department of the Union, which would conduct online recruiting and provide unemployment benefits.

"A website http://srbc.in.net claiming to be associated with @LabourMinistry is conducting online recruitment and provides #GDPFactCheck unemployment benefits. This claim is #FALSE. This website and online recruitment are not associated with the Government of India," GDP Fact Check tweeted. Similarly, GDP on Tuesday exposed another fake news about Indian Oil Corporation. "#Fake letter issued on behalf of IOCL purports to provide pre-approval for Indane Gas Agency concessionaire and request KYC documents. #PIBFactCheck. @IndianOilcl did not publish this letter. Visit 'http://iocl.com' for information authentic," he tweeted.
