The Early Access version of Sons of the Forest has just received its second update, Patch 02, from Endnight Games. The game has already garnered an overwhelming amount of very positive reviews on Steam, with 101,369 ratings so far. The developer has now added a new cave system, a new boss fight, and numerous fixes to the popular sequel to The Forest. Sons of the Forest Update 02 introduces a new cave system that will put the survivors of a helicopter crash to the test. The cave system is home to a new demon boss and dead cultists, as well as a new tortoise shell rain collector, a harder bloated variation, and a new type of two-story cannibal hut. In addition, a new Surveillance Room has been added to the Residential Bunker area and an Administration Panel for Administrator Clients is now available. Endnight Games also included additional story elements and an auto-save system for saves that were overwritten.
The latest update includes several improvements and balance adjustments. Golden Armor moved to the new cave system and the Bunker Deluxe keyboard input was removed, forcing players to open it a different way. Container items now save their state in individual mode, and furniture or ziplines can no longer be attached to doors and gates. The update also brings general improvements to Finnish and Traditional Chinese text and the appearance of old paper. Additionally, rabbits and squirrels will try harder to evade players, while Gold Armor now absorbs 70% of demonic damage instead of 90%.
Sons of the Forest Patch 02 addresses various issues such as fixing item duplication using storage media and enemy instances spawning inside player-built bases. The update also includes fixes for issues like player audio not clearing due to lack of air, binocular images stuck on screen, and GPS locator not clearing after being picked up and loaded from Android.
