Description

In an attempt to provide users with a safer social media experience, Twitter's Indian competitor Koo has released new features, describing them as a "milestone" in achieving said goal. In making the announcement, the social networking service said in a statement on Thursday: "In order to provide users with a healthy community and meaningful engagement, Koo has identified a few areas that have a high impact on user security, namely, child sexual abuse and nudity material, toxic comments and hate speech, disinformation and misinformation, and impersonation, and strives to actively remove their appearance on the platform." What are the news announced by Koo?

(1.) Non-Nudity Algorithm – According to Koo, this option will proactively and instantly detect and block any attempt to upload an image or video that contains child sexual abuse material, nudity, or sexual content. The total time required to detect and block will be less than 5 seconds.

(2.) MisRep Algorithm – This feature scans the platform for accounts impersonating well-known personalities and blocks those pseudonyms. Photos and videos of personalities are immediately removed from the phishing profile, which is flagged for future misconduct tracking.

(3.) Misinformation and Disinformation Algorithm: Actively running in real time, this option scans all reported and viral fake news, public and private sources of fake news, to detect and tag misinformation and disinformation in a post.

(4.) Sexually Explicit Content: Individuals who post sexually explicit content will be immediately banned from posting such content. These accounts will become "invisible" to others, will not appear in trending posts, and will not be able to interact with others.

(5.) Toxic comments and hate speech: will be actively detected, then hidden or removed, in less than 10 seconds. Visuals/images that contain too much blood and gore will come with a warning for users.
