Description
Fortnite, one of the most popular video games in the world, has undergone a significant transformation with the release of Fortnite Creative 2.0. Epic Games, the developers of the game, have released videos showing the potential of this custom mapping sandbox, teasing possible game modes and encouraging players to try new ideas. Fortnite Creative was first introduced in 2018, allowing players to create custom game modes on their own islands, creating unique games for other Fortnite players to try out. Over the years, Fortnite players have developed popular custom game modes including Prop Hunt, Death Rush, Kart Racing, and more. Epic Games encourages players to try creative modes by rewarding them with experience or cosmetics and even highlights specific high-quality game modes. Fortnite Creative 2.0, also known as Unreal Editor, is a free downloadable application from the Epic Games Store. It features enhanced tools that use Unreal Engine 5, allowing players to create custom game modes that Fortnite couldn't support before. To get players excited about this new development, Epic Games has released a series of demos and videos showcasing the possibilities of Fortnite Creative 2.0.
One of the most exciting game modes that players can look forward to is "The Space Inside", an adventure game that combines escape room gameplay with first-person adventure. In addition to this, videos have also been released showing a fierce battle against a giant robot in an industrial factory, a first-person roller coaster, and a recreation of the original Fortnite map.
Fortnite Creative 2.0 also marks the launch of Creator Economy 2.0, where Epic Games pays creators directly without the need for creator codes. Creators will be rewarded based on the popularity and retention of their custom game modes. This decision will undoubtedly encourage players to develop high-quality custom game modes.
What's next for Fortnite Creative? The possibilities are endless and gamers are delighted with what they can create with these new tools. Epic Games empowers creators to create exciting new game modes that are superior to anything that has come before. Fortnite players won't have to wait long to see what new creations come from Fortnite Creative 2.0.
Fortnite is available for mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Fortnite Creative enthusiasts have reason to rejoice with the arrival of Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), also known as Fortnite Creative 2.0. UEFN is a free app available on the Epic Games Store that aims to drastically improve the tools players have to create new games and experiences in Fortnite Creative mode. This article provides an overview of the UEFN, what it offers, and how the compensation structure for creators will change.
UEFN is a new app designed to enhance the existing Creative Mode tools in Fortnite. With UEFN, anyone can design, develop, and publish their own custom experiences right in Fortnite Creative mode. The app is released in a public beta state and coexists with Fortnite's older set of creative tools.
UEFN runs on Unreal Engine 5, with many of the engine's most touted features, such as the Lumen lighting technology that was introduced with Fortnite Chapter 4 last December. UEFN uses a new programming language created by Epic called Verse. Players will need to familiarize themselves with Verse, though a live demo suggests it's relatively intuitive compared to other programming languages.
Along with the UEFN reveal, Epic announced that it was building a "unified 3D marketplace" called the Fab Marketplace. As a unique showcase, it will combine several of Epic's most popular game development tools that previously stood alone: Unreal Engine Marketplace, Sketchfab, Quixel Bridge, and ArtStation Marketplace.
Creator Economy 2.0 is a redesign of how creators in the Fortnite ecosystem will earn money for their work. Previously, players could enter a creator code when purchasing in-game items such as a Season Battle Pass, skins, and emotes. Epic has provided creator codes to select players, streamers, and content creators. However, this only helped creators if players remembered to manually enter their code when making purchases.
With Creator Economy 2.0, Epic is overhauling the way players are paid. Going forward, 40% of money from in-game purchases will go towards a "pledge pool" paid out to eligible creators. Eligible individuals include players 18 years of age or older whose Fortnite accounts are at least 90 days old.
To help introduce players to the potential of UEFN, Epic worked with several developers to showcase a few projects on launch day. Players can go to the Fortnite Discovery tab in-game and find several new projects created by UEFN under a banner titled Epic's Picks. Projects include Deserted: Domination, Forest Guardian and The Space Inside.
