Microsoft Corp on Tuesday released an image creation feature for the Bing search engine and Edge browser that will use the technology behind OpenAI's DALL-E to create images based on text prompts. The tool, dubbed "Bing Image Creator," will be available to users of the latest AI-powered version of Bing and Edge Preview. Bing Image Creator will be integrated with Bing Chat and will initially roll out in creative mode starting Tuesday for desktop and mobile users, Microsoft said in a blog post.

Businesses large and small are locked in a fierce competition to implement software that could reshape the way people work after a frenzy began with last year's launch of ChatGPT, the OpenAI-owned chatbot sensation that has proven the potential of the so-called big language models.

Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft has tried to outperform its peers by investing in OpenAI, which last week released GPT-4, which performs a variety of tasks, from creating a real website to hand-drawn mockups to help people to calculate their taxes.

The software giant also rolled out new features, Visual Stories and Knowledge Cards 2.0, for Bing users. The features will use AI-generated charts and more interactive elements like charts and timelines to provide key information and facts at a glance.
