Description
OpenAI's ChatGPT is back online after thousands of users reported problems using the AI tool on Monday. Online outage tracking site Downdetector found that at least 1,200 users encountered an error while accessing the chatbot. The operational status page on the OpenAI website listed an "outage at chat.openai.com", which was later updated with a statement that the company was looking into the matter. Nearly four hours later, the issues appeared to be resolved as the site went live again. Also read: Why OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is 'afraid' of his ChatGPT creation
Many users took to Twitter to share updates and memes about the outage.
One user wrote: "ChatGPT is down worldwide. And I can't think to myself anymore, that's a problem!
ChatGPT Plus users, who pay $20 a month, expressed disappointment in the global decline of the AI chatbot.
One premium user wrote: "ChatGPT+ users who pay for not having a cool service, can't use ChatGPT for hours..."
Another person called the service "worst" for not offering updates on the outage.
When asked about its problems, ChatGPT informed users that it has no knowledge of particular bugs or glitches or the abilities to "monitor the operation of the system or its components."
The fourth generation of the Large Language Model (LLM) - GPT 4 has been released recently. The latest version of the Microsoft-backed OpenAI chatbot will include new features such as multi-modality, video processing, and the ability to create AI-generated videos from simple text prompts. Currently, ChatGPT and other technologies powered by GPT-3.5 can only provide text responses.
