In his latest updates, Musk shared that Twitter will open up all the code used to recommend tweets, and claimed that people at the company "didn't fully understand" the platform's algorithms because they are "too complicated."
"Our 'algorithm' is too complex and not fully understood internally. People will find out a lot of stupid things, but we'll fix problems as soon as they're discovered! We're developing a simplified approach to deliver more compelling tweets, but it's still a work in progress." work in progress. It will also be open source," he tweeted.
Open source makes code easily accessible to the public, who can then modify and redistribute it. It creates a decentralized and collaborative ecosystem that is relatively cheaper and is based on peer review and community production.
“Ensuring code transparency will be incredibly embarrassing at first, but should lead to a rapid improvement in the quality of recommendations. More importantly, we look forward to earning your trust," Musk added.
