It is rumored that Hogwarts Legacy, the action role-playing game based on the Harry Potter franchise, may have made plans to have good companions. That's right Potterheads, it seems that evidence has emerged suggesting that the game's developers may have considered implementing a plug-in system, but ultimately decided against it. According to sources, the game currently offers some characters that players can complete special missions for, but these characters do not accompany players outside of their specific missions. However, it seems that some of the in-game voice lines suggest that some good companions may have been in the works at some point. There are currently three companion-style characters in Hogwarts Legacy with their own quest lines: Slytherin's Sebastian Sallow, Hufflepuff's Poppy Sweeting, and Gryffindor's Natsai Onai aka Natty. Sadly, Ravenclaw doesn't have an equivalent character for her house, though it seems Amit Thakkar was once meant to fill that role.

While fans were disappointed that these characters didn't shine outside of their quests, the Hogwarts Legacy mods allowed players to take these characters with them on quests. They even have unique dialogue related to certain quests in the game, strongly suggesting that the developers once intended Hogwarts Legacy to have a proper companion system.
However, Avalanche, the game's developer, stated that they have no plans for Hogwarts Legacy DLC. Still, many fans are giving up, hoping that a Hogwarts Legacy DLC expansion can help them while they wait for the right sequel.
So what can fans expect from a Hogwarts Legacy sequel? Only time will tell, but if the developers address the criticism leveled at the original game, including the lack of suitable companions, fans could have new content to play sooner than they think.
