The Union Ministry of Health has asked the Computer Emergency Response Team-India (CERT-In) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to investigate the attempted hacking of its website allegedly committed by a group of hackers Russian computer scientists CloudSEK cybersecurity experts claimed that Russian hacker group "Phoenix" targeted the website and managed to access the Ministry's Health Management Information System portal, it has details of all hospitals, employees and doctors in India. . “We have requested details and asked CERT-In to investigate the alleged hacking of the Ministry of Health website. They will submit a report,” an official source told PTI.

CERT-In is the nodal national agency for the response to computer security incidents and provides prevention and response services to administrations and private organizations.
According to a CloudSEK report, the group mentioned that the attack is "a consequence of India's oil price cap deal and G20 sanctions over the Russo-Ukrainian war."
"The motive behind this target was the sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation, where the Indian authorities decided not to violate the sanctions and to comply with the Russian oil price cap approved by the G7 countries," CloudSEK said.
"The move prompted multiple polls on Russian hacktivist Phoenix's Telegram channel asking subscribers for their votes," he said.
CloudSEK said that Phoenix has been active since January 2022 and is known for phishing scams and has a history of attacking hospitals based in Japan and the UK, a US-based healthcare ministry, among others.
