Description
WhatsApp is rolling out a system that will allow administrators to manually accept or reject requests from people who want to join a group. This is according to WABetaInfo, a website that provides news and updates related to WhatsApp. Additionally, WABetaInfo shared a screenshot explaining how the request approval/rejection feature works. As shown in the screenshot above, the "Approve New Participants" option is available in the group settings section. Once "Approve New Participants" is selected, the group administrator must approve the requests of those who wish to join a group. The following message indicates that the feature has been enabled: "You have enabled admin approval to join this group. Tap to change."
Admins can review requests by opening "Pending Participants" on the group info screen or by tapping on the chat banner.
What are the benefits of the administrator approval system?
(1.) According to WABetaInfo, when this capability is disabled, anyone can become a member of a community subgroup without submitting an application.
(2.) With "Pending Participants", admins can ensure that only desired members join the group, even when they try to join via invite link.
(3.) This feature is also useful for managing groups and communities with a large number of participants.
