Elon Musk has now revealed that a "dumb algorithm" on Twitter that blocked banned accounts based on the number of blocks caused their engagement to plummet. The issue that led the Twitter boss to fire two engineers has now been fixed.
Asking Musk about the ban on hidden accounts, one user wrote on Twitter that a change had been made to the platform's algorithm to reduce the visibility of blocked/hidden accounts to the masses. “It allows campaigns on the left to silence the right, essentially taking away free speech by heavily weighing down votes over up,” the user said.
