Description
As 5G technology is still in its adolescent phase, only working in a few cities in India, South Korea has announced plans to launch the sixth generation of mobile cellular technology – 6G – by 2028.
The Korean Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology announced on Monday that the government will encourage local companies to produce materials, components and equipment for the development of its 6G network. A feasibility study of the core 6G technology is already underway, GSMArena reported. Many countries including India want to be the first to develop this revolutionary technology. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already announced that a 6G rollout task force is already in place, with a rollout possible by the end of this decade. Noting Prime Minister Modi's statement that connectivity will determine the pace of India's progress in the 21st century, Telecommunications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said at the time that India would lead in 6G.
