Description

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen in parliament on Wednesday wearing a special light blue sleeveless "sadri" jacket. The jacket is unique in that it is made from recycled materials from discarded plastic bottles. It was presented to the Prime Minister by the Indian Oil Corporation during the inauguration of India Energy Week in Bangalore. “IOC was looking for suppliers capable of transforming PET bottles into finished garments. They approached us because we had the necessary manufacturing capabilities and technical expertise. We had given them nine fabric options, of which the Prime Minister chose the shade of blue. This is what his team sewed up and gave him, which he took to Parliament yesterday,” Sankar explains, saying they are the only ones in India who do this recycling process from the bottles to the garment.
