China's Baidu Inc said Tuesday it will complete internal testing of a ChatGPT-like project called "Ernie Bot" in March, joining a global race as interest in generative artificial intelligence (AI) gains momentum.
Ernie, which stands for "Enhanced Representation Through Knowledge Integration," is a great AI-powered language model introduced in 2019, Baidu said. It was gradually developed to be able to perform tasks such as language comprehension, language generation and text-to-image generation, he added. Search engine giant Baidu's Hong Kong-listed shares rose 13.4% on the news.
