Description
Businesses may now have to pay more than $1,000 per month to maintain the gold verified badge on Twitter, according to a report tweeted by social media consultant Matt Navarra. Navarra shared screenshots of Twitter's offer of $1,000 to verify organizations and an additional $50 per month for affiliate accounts. The report was confirmed by tech news site The Information, which added that details are still being finalized and the pricing structure may change.
According to screenshots of an email purportedly sent by Twitter employees, the new proposal is called Verified for Organizations. Twitter first announced this on January 14, indicating that the verification plan, formerly known as Blue for Business, will be rolling out soon. He also added that there is an option for earlier access through a waitlist process. The latest revenue generation plan will also include "Tweet Boosting," which would increase the reach of tweets sent out by organizations and their affiliates. Efforts by new owner Elon Musk to boost subscription revenue with the $8-a-month Twitter Blue service have come under fire after sparking a flood of copycats at the microblogging site. Musk introduced the gold checkmarks when he relaunched the plan last December as a replacement for the blue checkmarks, purchased by individuals.
