Description

Faced with a tight job market and a shortage of workers with key software engineering skills, some German companies are looking at thousands of layoffs in Silicon Valley as an opportunity to hire top talent.

The west coast of the United States has always been the top destination for ambitious software engineers looking to work in the highest-paying and most elite corner of their profession, but the mass layoffs have created a pool of job seekers that Germany is eager to explode

“They're firing, we're hiring,” said Rainer Zugehoer, director of human resources at Cariad, the software subsidiary of automaker Volkswagen. "We have several hundred open positions in the United States, Europe and China."
