Description

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called for the proper disposal of e-waste, saying it can become a great force in building a circular economy. During his first Mann Ki Baat speech of 2023, the Prime Minister cited a United Nations report stating that 50 million tons of e-waste is thrown away each year. "Can you imagine how much that is? Even if you weighed all the commercial aircraft manufactured in the history of mankind, it would still be less than this e-waste. It's as if, every second, eight hundred computers, cell phones are thrown away. About Se they can extract 17 kinds of precious metals from this e-waste through different processes," he said. "Therefore, recycling e-waste is nothing less than making gold from waste," the prime minister said.
