Maharashtra records 226 new Covid cases, zero deaths in 24 hours

On Sunday, Maharashtra recorded 545 cases and two deaths. (Representative) Maharashtra reported 226 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, up from nearly 550 the day before, bringing the total to 81,62,120, while no new infection-related deaths were recorded in the state, the department of health. The death toll was unchanged at 1,48,504, according to a health department report.

On Sunday, Maharashtra recorded 545 cases and two deaths.

The report says that 505 patients have recovered from the respiratory illness in the last 24 hours, bringing its cumulative count to 80,07,840 and leaving the state with an active caseload of 5,776.

According to the report, with 9,154 new tests -7,364 in government laboratories, 1,658 in private laboratories and 132 through self-diagnosis kits- carried out in the last 24 hours, their total number has risen to 8,6902,863.

Mumbai administrative circle reported the highest number of new cases with 108, followed by 37 in Kolhapur circle, 29 each in Pune and Nagpur, 13 in Nashik, nine in Akola and one in Latur circle, it said.

An administrative circle consists of several districts.

Since January 1, 2023, there have been 86 coronavirus-related deaths in the state, with 72.09% of those patients older than 60 years. Additionally, 87% of the dead had comorbidities, the department said.

According to the report, the city of Mumbai has recorded 59 cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number to 11,61,023, while the death toll remained stable at 19,761.

Maharashtra's coronavirus recovery rate was 98.11% while the case fatality rate was 1.81%.
