Prime Minister Gati Shakti's National Master Plan initiative receives Excellence in Public Administration Award Prime Minister Gati Shakti's National Master Plan initiative, launched in October 2021 for the integrated and planned development of critical infrastructure projects to reduce logistics costs, today received an Excellence in Public Administration Award - 2022 from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Secretary of the Department for the Promotion of Domestic Industry and Trade (DPIIT), Anurag Jain, received the award during the 16th Public Service Day.
Prime Minister Modi bestowed these Excellence in Public Administration Awards for effective implementation of identified priority programs and innovation to implementing units and central and state organizations.
The Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Public Administration were instituted to recognize the extraordinary and innovative work done by districts and central and state government organizations for the welfare of the people.
The initiative of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry received the award in the innovation category (center).
All connectivity and logistics infrastructure projects, involving an investment of more than Rs 500 crore, go through the Network Planning Group (NPG) formed under the initiative. A digital GIS compatible national master plan platform has also been developed and more than 1300 data layers are uploaded by the Center and States to this platform.
Data related to cadastres, ports, forests, schools, stations, bodies of water, telecommunications towers, and roads are available on the portal.
For example, if the railway is planning a project on a specific route, putting the relevant data/information on the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan portal/platform before finalizing the DPR (Detailed Project Report), you can see if the route proposal crosses public or privately owned land, forests, canals, or highways and, accordingly, make changes without physically visiting the area.
The objective is to improve logistics efficiency by reducing transport times and costs, simplifying procedures and creating an efficient logistics ecosystem.
With this platform, DPRs are prepared in 2-3 months (including ground verification). Previously, the simultaneous display of all relevant details available on the platform took 6-8 months.
Citing an example, he said that by using the platform, the Ministry of Railways got 405 final whereabouts inquiries sanctioned in 2022-23 compared to 57 in 2021-22.
So far, around 76 key infrastructure projects worth around Rs 5.14 lakh crore from different ministries have been appraised under the initiative over the past year. These projects belong to different ministries, including roads and highways; oil and natural gas; housing and urban affairs; and new and renewable energy.
