Army soldier Naik Amol Gore dies while rescuing fellow Jawans, cremated with full honors

Naik Amol Gore was attached to the army's special forces unit 11 Para. An Indian Army soldier from Maharashtra's Washim district sacrificed his fellow Jawans who saved his life and fell into a river in Arunachal Pradesh while on patrol, authorities said. The body of Naik Amol Gore, who died on duty on April 14, was transported to his hometown of Sonkhas in the district on Wednesday, where he was cremated with full military honours, they said.

"Thousands of citizens attended his final journey with people chanting 'Long live Amol Gore'." Washim Rural Police Station API Chief Pramod Ingle paid tribute to the martyr on behalf of the police,” Washim Police Superintendent Bachchan Singh said.

Naik Gore was attached to the army's special forces unit 11 paratroopers, police said. He joined the military in 2010 and is survived by his wife and two children, they said.

The Additional General Directorate of Public Information, IHQ of the Ministry of Defense (Army), shared details of Gore's ultimate sacrifice on Twitter. It said Naik Gore "lost his life in East Kameng in Arunachal Pradesh on April 14 while rescuing soldiers who fell into a river while on patrol."

He further said: "General Manoj Pande #COAS and all ranks of the #IndianArmy salute the ultimate sacrifice of Naik Gore Amol Tanhaji who lost his life rescuing his fellow soldiers who fell into a river and express their deepest condolences to the family in mourning".
