Description
The video was recorded by two women who were on a scooter following the police officers. Wearing a helmet while riding a two-wheeler is mandatory in India and the rule applies to everyone. However, a video surfaced on social media showing two Uttar Pradesh police officers riding their bikes at night without helmets. The video was recorded by two women who were on a scooter following the police officers and confronting them for breaking the rules. In the video, the women can be heard repeatedly questioning the police officers as to why they were not wearing helmets. ''Where are your helmets? Aren't you ashamed... The rules only apply to the public, the rules don't apply to you..." they asked. The policemen simply ignored the women and sped off.
A Twitter user shared the video with a caption that read: "These citizens are needed."

A similar photo last week showed two policewomen riding a scooter without helmets in Mumbai. Mumbai Police responded and demanded the exact location from where the image was clicked.
In particular, the Motor Vehicle Law is directed at two-wheeler drivers, and it states that riding/driving a two-wheeler without a helmet is a traffic offense and an illegal offense in the country. Anyone caught driving or operating a two-wheeler without a helmet faces a fine and the suspension or revocation of their driver's license. In extreme cases, the driver could be jailed for up to three months.
