Nahi Le Gaye To...: UP Gangster Atiq Ahmed Last Words Before Being Shot

(File photo) In a shocking turn of events, mobster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. Moments before his murder, the two criminals, who have been charged in the Umesh Pal murder case, were speaking to the media while being taken for a medical examination and their murder was caught on camera.

"Nahi le gaye to nahi gaye (they didn't take us, so we didn't go)," were Atiq Ahmed's last words, when asked what he had to say about not being taken to his son Asad's funeral.

“Main baat ye hai ki Guddu Muslim... (the fact is that Guddu Muslim...) were Ashraf's last words.

According to the images, the two were handcuffed and taken for a medical examination. As the two advanced, they were asked questions by the media. Atiq was shot in the head from behind, almost point blank. Ashraf was also shot.

Days after Atiq Ahmed's son, Asad, was killed during a meeting in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, the mobster-turned-politician and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were killed on Saturday as they were being taken for a medical examination in Prayagraj.

Atiq Ahmed has been charged in the 2005 murder case of BSP MP Raju Pal, as well as the Umesh Pal murder case in February this year.

Asad was assassinated on April 13 during a meeting in Jhansi. He was killed along with Ghulam, both of whom are wanted in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal in Prayagraj.

Each of them carried a bounty of 5 lakhs rupees on their heads. Police said foreign-made weapons were recovered.

"Asad, son of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and Ghulam S/o Maksudan, both wanted in Prayagraj's Umesh Pal murder case and with a bounty of Rs 5 lakhs each; killed during an encounter with the "team of UPSTF led by DySP Navendu and DySP Vimal in Jhansi. Sophisticated foreign-made weapons have been recovered," the UP STF said.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were taken to the CJM court in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on the same day Asad was killed during the encounter.
