Saurabh Bharadwaj accused LG of stealing credit for his work and misleading people. (file) In the latest round of war of words between the Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, the ruling party accused the latter of taking credit for the work done by the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in the national capital. The party also responded to his comment that a diploma is just a receipt for tuition fees. Setting a June 30 deadline to clean up the Yamuna River, Saxena criticized AAP ministers for doing so.
"The Yamuna river will be cleaned up in Delhi on June 30. I have no objection to any minister wanting to take credit for our work," LG VK Saxena said, without naming anyone.
In response to LG, AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj accused him of stealing credit for his work and misleading people.
"You must have seen in recent days that Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena arrives to see the work being done by the Delhi government and then issues a lengthy press release. It is described as the Lieutenant Governor is doing this job. Surprisingly, when a The reporter told him today that the Delhi government was doing this. He said that if any minister wanted to take credit for our work, he could take it. I am shocked: how can this be LG's work? How can anyone deceive the people of that way, he said.
Going after the LG, Mr. Bharadwaj further said that it was through the kindness of the Chief Minister that Mr. Saxena was allowed to visit the projects of the Government of Delhi, the Delhi Jal Board and the Flood Department.
“We thought, 'let him visit Delhi.' said an exasperated Mr Bharadwaj, detailing the efforts of the Delhi government to clean up the Yamuna since 2017.
The minister pointed out that Mr. Saxena is not allowed to spend even 1 rupee from the Delhi budget and that it was Mr. Kejriwal's government that approved the budget, after which the relevant departments started working on it. He said that Mr. Saxena was just repeating what Arvind Kejriwal had already said in his 6-point plan in November 2021.
"Yamuna cleanup continues at a rapid pace. Najafgarh drains are being cleaned. 15-16 drains have also been repaired. By then, we will clean the 22 km stretch from Yamuna to Delhi. Yamuna work is also underway in mission mode. We cleared the Qudsiya Ghat in 15 days," said an official statement from VK Saxena. He also stated that the main source of pollution of Lake Najafgarh, including the large amount of domestic and industrial effluent from Gurugram and possible ways to overcome lake pollution and preserve aquatic life, were discussed during his visit today.
Saurabh Bharadwaj then listed all the successful sewer cleaning projects his government has done.
"His job is not to visit the sewers, but various police stations under his control. There are 350 police stations in Delhi. He should visit them. But he visits the sewers where work is being done and claims the work done by the government," he said. .
Bharadwaj pointed out that in March 2022, Manish Sisodia allocated Rs 705 crore in his budget speech to rebuild Najafgarh drainage in Sahibi river while the lieutenant governor only took charge in May 2022, he added.
On VK Saxena's controversial comment about titles, Mr. Bharadwaj asked how many of his secretaries do not have them.
"Why did you hire graduates? Your secretary must have a degree, the doctor you want to seek treatment from must have a degree, but the prime minister will not need a degree, the prime minister will not need a degree?" joked.
