Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Arunachal Pradesh on 10-11 April where he will launch the 'Vibrant Villages Programme' in Kibithoo, a village along the Indochina border. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India has approved the 'Vibrant Villages Program' (VVP) with core components of Rs 4,800 crore, of which Rs 2,500 crore exclusively for road connectivity for fiscal years 2022 -23 to 2025- On the 26th, said a statement from the Ministry of the Interior on Saturday.

The VVP is a centrally sponsored program under which 2,967 villages in 46 blocks in 19 districts contiguous to the northern border in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, and the Union Territory of Ladakh have been identified for a integral development.

In the first phase, 662 villages, including 455 in Andhra Pradesh, were identified for priority coverage.

The VVP will help improve the quality of life for people living in the identified border villages and encourage people to stay in their places of origin, thus reversing emigration from these villages and improving border security, according to the statement.

The district administration, with the help of appropriate mechanisms at the block and panchayat level, will prepare action plans for the identified villages to ensure 100% saturation of central and state programs. The priority areas of intervention identified for the development of the villages include road connectivity, drinking water, electricity, including solar and wind energy, mobile and Internet connectivity, tourist centers, multipurpose centers, health centers and wellness centers.

Shah, making his first visit to Arunachal Pradesh as Home Minister, will inaugurate nine state government micro hydropower projects built under the Golden Jubilee Border Lighting Scheme in Kibithoo on April 10. These power projects will empower people in villages borders, according to the statement.

It will also inaugurate Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) projects to increase infrastructure in Likabali (Arunachal Pradesh), Chapra (Bihar), Nooranad (Kerala) and Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), it added.

The Home Minister will also interact with ITBP staff at Kibithoo in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh.

An exhibition of products made by members of women's self-help groups from the border districts will also be organized. Amit Shah will visit the exhibition booths, according to the statement.

On April 11, he will visit Namti Field and pay his respects at the War Memorial in Walong, he added.
