Chugh said the party will observe a "week of social justice" from today until BR Ambedkar's birthday on April 14. As part of this initiative, the BJP will observe nationwide programs to commemorate the social reformer and framer of the Constitution.
The move to pay tribute to the Dalit icon is also the BJP's outreach to the community ahead of Lok Sabha elections. The party will also mark the birthday of social reformer Jyotiba Phule, another Dalit icon, on April 11.
The BJP was founded on April 6, 1980 after the leaders of the former Jana Sangh left the Janata party.
