The couple had traveled to Ballia from Bihar from Buxar, police said, (representational) A Bihar man was killed and his cousin injured after unidentified assailants allegedly attacked them in the Sukhpura area of Uttar Pradesh district, police said today. Pritam Pathak was traveling home with his cousin Nishu when they were allegedly attacked near Van Bihar bend last night, police said.
The badly injured duo were taken to the district hospital where doctors pronounced Pathak dead.
Circle official Rajesh Kumar Tiwari said Nishu suffered head injuries in the attack.
Pathak and his cousin, aged 20 to 25, were from the Buxar district in neighboring Bihar. The two men were returning to Buxar after meeting their aunt when they were attacked, Tiwari added.
Pathak's body was sent for an autopsy, police said.
Speaking to reporters at the district hospital, Nishu said 30 to 40 unidentified assailants attacked them for no reason.
