Clarification after dissemination of false message on social networks (Archive) The Ministry of Railways on Saturday debunked a notification that went viral about the recruitment of at least 20,000 police posts into the Railway Protection Force. The clarification from the railways came after a false post on social media about spreading jobs.

"A false message is circulating on social media and in print media about the recruitment of 20,000 gendarmerie posts in the RPF," the railways notice read.

“It is reported, for the guidance of all concerned, that the RPF or the Ministry of Railways have not issued such notification on their official websites or through any printed or electronic means,” the notification said.

Earlier this year, the economic crime wing of the Delhi Police shut down a railway employment scam and arrested two people for defrauding 28 people from Tamil Nadu out of Rs 2.68 crore.

According to the economic crimes wing, the arrested defendants have been identified as Sivaraman V, a resident of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and Vikas Rana, a resident of Govind Puri in Delhi.

The EOW arrested Sivaraman from Delhi's Mahadev Marg and his accomplice Rana from Darjeeling.

"The defendant cheated 28 innocent people from Tamil Nadu out of Rs 2.68 crores and promised the victims jobs and training on trains and platforms at different stations. We arrested Sivaraman V (65) and Vikas Rana (43), both of whom are members of this employment scam racket,” DCP EOW MI Haider told ANI.

Police also identified Satender Dubey as the gang's kingpin. He lived in Uttam Nagar, southwest of Delhi. Satender Dubey and one of his accomplices, Rahul Chaudhary, are missing, police said.

After joining the gang, Vikas Rana posed as the assistant manager of the Northern Railway's Delhi office.

As part of the training, the victims had to stand on different platforms at the New Delhi railway station every day for eight hours for a month to count the arrival and departure of trains and their coaches.
