A member of the staff of a hotel complex in Pernem, in the north of Goa, was arrested for avoir poignardé and attacked a Dutch tourist, even though a Dutch tourist was arrested by another person who was there, and was informed by those responsible for police. The defendant was identified as Abhishek Verma and the injured person as Eurico.
According to Police Superintendent (SP), Nidhin Valsan, "A staff member of the complex entered the tent rented by the complainant, when she started screaming for help, a local person came to save her from the accused and seeing his presence, the defendant fled, after which the defendant returned with a knife, assaulted the resident, again assaulted the complainant and fled.
The SP further stated that the complainant and the local person were taken to the hospital for treatment.
"The knife used for the commission of the crime has been recovered. The FIR has been registered under Section 452 354 307 506 (II) of IPC," said Nidhin Valsan.
