Last Sunday an event in Canada was canceled for security reasons after a violent demonstration by supporters of Khalistan.
The event was held at the Taj Park Convention Center in Surrey in honor of Sanjay Kumar Verma, India's envoy to Canada, on his first visit to the West Coast.
A journalist of Indian origin, who was there to cover the demonstration, was also reportedly attacked by the radicals.
The protest came amid a massive crackdown on radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh and his associates in Punjab.
Earlier, Khalistan supporters tore down the tricolor outside the Indian High Commission in London. The government protested strongly and called on the British authorities to provide adequate security.
One day after the attack on the High Commission. the Indian consulate in San Francisco was also vandalized by a group of Khalistan supporters.
Bagchi said that India had firmly raised the issue with both countries.
