(File) Amid the political uproar over UK Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi's recent remarks on India, Rajya Sabha Vice-President and Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Sunday expressed concern about 'incubators and distributors' orchestrating "narratives pernicious" against the country. According to him, anti-Indian narratives are being propagated to reduce the country's growth trajectory and undermine functional democracy and constitutional institutions.

The vice president called on "the intelligentsia" and the people to be attentive to these anti-indigenous narratives, the government reported in a statement.

"India is on the rise like never before and the rise is unstoppable. The global relevance and recognition of the nation is at a level never seen before. This rise is accompanied by internal and external challenges. It is here that the intelligentsia and people of the media We must all be aware of the rise of incubators and distributors of anti-indigenous forces orchestrating pernicious narratives to slow our growth trajectory and taint our functioning democracy and constitutional institutions. It is imperative that we all believe in our nation and nationalism and commit to neutralizing such mishaps,” said the vice president.

He praised the former governor for his contributions to public life and for sharing his valuable experiences in his memoirs.

He observed that “the essence of democracy” is that “everyone is equally responsible before the law. "No one can enjoy privileged consideration by law and be seen through a different prism," he said.

Suggesting that India is the most vibrant democracy, he said that "equality before the law is something we cannot negotiate."

After pointing out that the dynamics of governability would always be difficult, the vice president said that a harmonized operation of the constitutional institutions was required: the legislative, the executive and the judicial.

Calling for the proper functioning of Parliament amid the recent traffic jams, he said: “In a democracy, the dynamics of governance will always be difficult, which requires the proper functioning of constitutional institutions, will always happen. Legislative, executive and judiciary: there will always be problems and we will never have a day where we can say there will be no problems, because we are a dynamic society, it has to happen. There is no place for confrontation or denunciation of those who run these institutions. . Those who direct the executive, the legislature or the judiciary cannot be complacent, they cannot act in confrontation. They must act collaboratively and find solutions together.

He reiterated that “it is the primacy of our constitution that determines the stability, harmony and productivity of democratic governance. "The parliament, which reflects the mandate of the people, is the last and exclusive creator of the Constitution," he said.
