The defendant was convicted of the rape and murder of a 9-year-old girl, police said. A special court on Wednesday sentenced the defendants to death for the rape and murder of a minor, police said. "The court sentenced the defendant to death in the case of rape and murder of a minor. The sentence was handed down by the POCSO court in Ghaziabad. After about 6 months, the court sentenced the defendant under sections 302, 363 and 376 of the CPI,” said Ravi Kumar, DCP Rural, Ghaziabad.
The incident dates back to August 18, 2022 when an underage girl was found dead in a village in the Modinagar region.

Earlier, on February 9, a POCSO court in Ghaziabad convicted a man of the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl and sentenced him to death.
