Bihar man arrested for sharing fake video of attack on migrant workers

Tamil Nadu police had registered 11 cases and arrested three people before. (Representative) A 32-year-old man from Bihar has been arrested for posting false information on his social media page and spreading rumors of attacks on migrant workers in Tirupur, police said. A Tirupur Cyber Crime Task Force continued its surveillance and tracked down defendant Prashantkumar, a Bihar native who settled in Henegare village of Latehar district of Jharkhand, for posting videos on Facebook as if migrant workers from north of the India were under attack.

The team camping there arrested Prashantkumar on March 11 and brought him before the Latehar District Court, they said on Sunday.

With a transit warrant, the accused was taken to Tirupur and brought before the Third Place Magistrates Court and detained on Sunday, police said.

Tirupur police have already arrested a young man from Bihar for spreading rumours.

Tamil Nadu Police recorded 11 cases and arrested three people earlier in this regard.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin assured his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar that all migrant workers were safe in the state and said swift action would be taken against the rumors causing panic.
