K Kavitha's father, K Chandrasekhar Rao, is a key opposition leader in the center. Ms Kavitha was due to meet with the Enforcement Department (ED) on Thursday. Citing her planned hunger strike in Delhi on Friday to demand the introduction of the Women's Reserve Bill in parliament, she asked the ED to postpone her questioning until today, which the central agency had agreed to. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is already in Emergency Department custody. He was also arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for alleged corruption in the making of Delhi's new alcohol policy, which was later scrapped.

A key part of the investigation into the Delhi liquor policy case involves an alleged network of middlemen, businessmen and politicians that central agencies have dubbed the "Southern Group".

The ED alleged that the alcohol policy had been changed to help "Southern Group" companies and Mr. Sisodia had watered down the policy in his favor without any consultation.

One of the "Southern Group" people under the radar is Ms. Kavitha. His father, K Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly known as KCR, is a centrist opposition leader. This led to accusations against the BJP-led center of using central agencies to harass opposition leaders with false cases.

His brother and Telangana minister KT Rama Rao also came to Delhi yesterday, a day before his sister's questioning by the Emergency Department.

KCR told party leaders yesterday that they would fight to end the harassment of rival BJP using central agencies, the PTI news agency reported. "Our fight will continue until the BJP is ousted (from power) in the country," KCR said.

Mme Kavitha, 44 years old, has declared that the BJP has "intimider my chef", making reference to the sons of the KCR, who expects a consequential three-year mandate at the pouvoir dans l'État, où les élections à l'assemblee sont prévues dans some months.

During the Delhi court hearing on Mr. Sisodia's case yesterday, his lawyer criticized the ED for considering arrest as a right without going through due process. "It has become a fashion these days that agencies view arrests as a right. It is time for the courts to reject this sense of entitlement," said Sisodia's lawyer, Dayan Krishna.
