Satish Kaushik studied at the prestigious National School of Dramatic Art. (File) The sudden death of actor and director Satish Chandra Kaushik has shocked the Hindi film industry today. Several artists recalled their memories with the actor, who popularly played the role of "Calendar" in Anil Kapoor starring Mr India, and paid tribute to him on social media. Kaushik died of a heart attack on the way to hospital, his close friend and actor Anupam Kher said today. He was 66 years old.

Kher also shared a heartfelt note to his "best friend."

"I know that 'death is the last truth of this world!' But I never thought in my dreams that I would write this about my best friend #SatishKaushik in my life. What a sudden interruption in a friendship of 45 years! Life I will NEVER be the same without you SATISH! Om Shanti," Kher tweeted in Hindi.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah was one of the first politicians to console the actor's death.

Satish Kaushik studied at the prestigious National School of Drama and the Film and Television Institute of India. He acted in movies like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, Udta Punjab, Mr India, Deewana Mastana. He also directed movies like Tere Naam and Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai.
