Description

Official CBI statement on this is awaited. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal described the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team's visit to the residence of former Bihar CM Rabri Devi as "humiliating". National leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spoke at the unveiling event for the Ashram flyover in the nation's capital.

Referring to the CBI team's visit to Rabri Devi's residence, Mr. Kejriwal said: “This is wrong, raids like these are humiliating.

When asked about this, can you see it in relation to the letter written by opposition leaders to Prime Minister Narendra Modi? they will not be allowed to operate. They (the BJP) are using ED, CBI and the governor to confuse them. Democracy will only advance when everyone in the world works together, anyone who has a government should be able to work there.

Lead lawyer Kapil Sibal also reacted to the incident, noting Lalu Prasad's "frail health".

"CBI is heating up Lalu. We all know the fragile state of his health. To put pressure on Tejasvi. The more the government does this, the more people will turn against this government," Sibal tweeted.

Earlier in the day, CBI came to the residence of former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi in Patna as part of the Land for Jobs case.

CBI officials told ANI that the CBI team visited Rabri Devi's residence as part of the land for employment case.

Incidentally, in an attempt to echo the voice of the opposition in unison, nine leaders from eight political parties wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday about the arrest of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the matter of the excise tax policy.

They claimed that the "misuse" of central agencies suggests that the country "has moved from a democracy to an autocracy."

The leaders further alleged that the deadlines for filing complaints or arresting opposition leaders "coincided with the elections," clearly demonstrating that the action was "politically motivated."

Among the opposition leaders who signed the letter were BRS head K Chandrashekhar Rao, JKNC head Farooq Abdullah, AITC head Mamata Banerjee, NCP head Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, Chief Minister from Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, the leader of RJD. Tejashwi Yadav and the leader of the Samajwadi party, Akhilesh Yadav.

However, there was no representation from Congress, JDS, JD(U) and CPI(M) in the letter.

“We hope you agree that India is still a democratic country. The flagrant abuse by central agencies against members of the opposition seems to suggest that we have moved from a democracy to an autocracy,” the leaders wrote.

Calling the action against Sisodia, who was arrested on February 26 by the CBI, a "long witch hunt," the letter alleges that the allegations made under the excise policy smack of a "smell of political conspiracy."

They claimed that Sisodia's arrest had "angered" people across the country and claimed that his arrest would "confirm what the world only suspected" that India's democratic values were "under threat" under the BJP regime.
