Description

Samvardhinee Nyas, an RSS affiliate, has launched a campaign called "Garbha Sanskar" for pregnant women to teach the culture and values of babies in the womb, its national organization secretary Madhuri Marathe said on Monday. Together with gynecologists, Ayurvedic doctors and yoga trainers, the Nyas are planning a program that will include singing the Gita, Ramayana and practicing yoga during pregnancy to "transmit cultural values to babies in the womb." Starting from pregnancy to two-year-old babies, this program will emphasize the singing of Gita shlokas, chaupais from the Ramayana, Ms Marathe said, adding that "a baby in the womb can learn up to 500 words." “The aim and objective of this campaign is to develop a program that ensures that the baby can learn sanskar (culture and values) in the womb and the process continues until the baby is two years old,” said Ms. Marathe.

Samvardhinee Nyas, a branch of Rashtra Sevika Samiti, the women's wing of the RSS, plans to reach at least 1,000 women through this campaign, she said.

As part of this campaign, the Nyas held a workshop at Jawaharlal Nehru University on Sunday which was attended by a number of gynecologists including from AIIMS-Delhi, it added.
