The construction of the new mosque in Ayodhya has been delayed for more than two years. (representative) The Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA) has granted final permission for the construction of the Dhannipur Mosque in the city as requested by the Supreme Court in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi verdict. The Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation Trust (IICF) will build a mosque, hospital, research institute, community kitchen and library on five acres of land donated by the Uttar Pradesh government.

Construction was delayed by more than two years due to pending permits and ADA land use change issues.

"We approved the Ayodhya Mosque project during the board meeting held on Friday. The approved cards will be delivered to the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF) after some departmental formalities to be completed in a few days," Gaurav Dayal, Commissioner Ayodhya divisional office, he told PTI.

IICF Secretary Athar Hussain said the trust will hold a meeting after all clearances have been made and finalize the construction plan for the mosque.

“The trust meeting will take place after Ramzan, which ends on April 21. The start date for the construction works of the mosque will be finalized during this meeting,” he said.

"We laid the foundation of the mosque on January 26, 2021. We chose this day because the Indian Constitution came into force more than seven decades ago," he said.

"The Dhannipur mosque will be bigger than the Babri Masjid. It will not be modeled after the structure that once stood in Ayodhya," Hussain told PTI.

The Dhannipur Mosque site is about 22 km from the Ram Temple site in the pilgrimage town.

In a landmark ruling on November 9, 2019, the Supreme Court ordered the construction of a Ram temple on a disputed site in Ayodhya and asked the government to allocate five acres of land for the construction of the mosque in a well-located location. view.

The IICF trust, established for the construction of the mosque, has announced its intention to build a hospital, a community kitchen, a library and a research institute, along with the mosque.

Hussain said that the future hospital will serve humanity in the true spirit of Islam as taught by the Prophet 1,400 years ago.

"The hospital will not have the usual concrete structure, but will be in tune with the architecture of the mosque, full of calligraphy and Islamic symbols," he said.

"While the hospital will treat the sick and sick, the soup kitchen will feed the hungry, blurring the barriers of religion, caste and creed. The green belt on the site will raise awareness of climate change and the research institute will investigate the contribution of Muslims in the struggle for freedom and the legacy of the Hindu-Muslim brotherhood that helped India achieve independence,” added the IICF Secretary.

Meanwhile, the construction of the Ram Temple in the city is in full swing.

Officials of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the trust which is in charge of building the temple, have claimed that the temple will open its doors to devotees in January 2024.

The country will face its next general elections in the same year.
