Elections in the Sohiong constituency in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district are likely to be called off following the death of the United Democratic Party candidate for the seat, electoral director FR Kharkongor said on Monday.
The election for the 60-member House will take place on February 27. Votes will be counted on March 2. "HDR Lyngdoh, a candidate from the Sohiong constituency, died in hospital after going into cardiac arrest. The voting process is likely to be suspended in the constituency," Kharkongor told PTI.
