Delhi's civic body will meet on Thursday to elect a mayor after three failed attempts amid a dispute between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena this morning accepted the AAP government's proposal to hold mayoral elections on February 16, official sources said. The AAP alleged that the BJP was trying to take over the Delhi municipality by electing a BJP leader as mayor, even though the AAP won far more seats than the BJP in the recent civic body elections.
