Description

The AAP candidates were replaced by senior officials.

In a major setback for the Aam Aadmi party, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena today removed two candidates he endorsed from the boards of private power companies. The Ministry of Energy has sacked AAP spokeswoman Jasmine Shah and Naveen ND Gupta, son of AAP MP ND Gupta, saying they were illegally nominated as "government candidates" to the boards of privately owned BYPL companies , BRPL (Anil Ambani) and NDPDCL (Tata). The AAP candidates were replaced by senior officials.

The AAP called the ordinance "unconstitutional and illegal" and added that only the elected government has the power to issue electricity ordinances. The lieutenant governor flouted the constitution, the party said.
