Nitish Kumar expelled the BJP accusing it of trying to split the JD(U). BJP workers in Bihar have been told categorically that there is no talk of a realignment with "unpopular" Prime Minister Nitish Kumar, the head of the party's state unit, Sanjay Jaiswal, said on Sunday. He made the claim at the end of the two-day party executive meeting in the North Bihar district of Darbhanga.

"We have tried to quell rumors among our party cadres about such a realignment. Of course, the CM has the propensity to swing like a pendulum," said the BJP leader whose party lost power in Bihar when Kumar and JD (U ) left an alliance. with the saffron party to set up a new one with RJD and the Congress.

“Nitish Kumar has become hugely unpopular. It was his unpopularity that caused his JD(U) to perform poorly in the 2020 Assembly polls, while we did much better,” Jaiswal said.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed magnanimity (udaarta) by deciding to keep the promise made before the election and Kumar ended up enjoying another term. But, perennial traitor, Kumar abused the trust placed in him by the prime minister,” alleged the Bihar BJP leader.

Kumar had rid himself of the BJP by accusing it of trying to split the JD(U) with the help of his former associate RCP Singh.

The party also accused the BJP of an attempt to sabotage the assembly elections when many Saffron party rebels were aligned by Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti party against the JD(U) candidates.

Jaiswal reiterated that the BJP now aims to form its own government in Bihar after winning the upcoming assembly elections and stated that the tone would be set in the Lok Sabha elections next year in which "we have set a target of more of 35 of 40 seats in the state".

Mr. Jaiswal also said, wryly: "Today is the birthday of George Fernandes, who mentored Nitish. 'other."
