One pilot died in the crash, while two others are being treated at a hospital, the Air Force said in a statement. "An investigation has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident of the two aircraft," it added.

The sources say that one plane crashed in Morena in Madhya Pradesh and the other crashed in the forest area around Bharatpur in Rajasthan.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has been briefed on the accident, authorities said, adding that he is closely monitoring developments.
